Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator Recalled in Australia Over Potential Fire Risk
What is the problem?
According to the Australian Government recall notice, affected vehicles may have an electrical connection within the Electric Hydraulic Power Steering Pump (EHPSP) system that is susceptible to high electrical resistance.
In some circumstances, this high-resistance connection can generate excessive heat around the power steering pump electrical connection.
The concern is that this heat could cause nearby combustible materials to overheat and potentially ignite, creating a vehicle fire risk.

Owners may also notice a loss of power steering assistance or receive a "Service Power Steering" warning or diagnostic trouble code before a fault occurs.

Jeep advises owners to park away from vehicles and buildings
In an unusual but important precaution, Stellantis Australia is advising owners of affected vehicles to park away from buildings, structures and other vehicles until the recall repair has been completed.
At the time the recall was announced, a repair was not yet available in Australia.
The Australian recall campaign is expected to launch during the third quarter of 2026, with Stellantis Australia contacting affected owners by mail, email or phone once the remedy is available.

Is my Jeep affected?
The recall covers all variants of the:
Jeep JL Wrangler — 2020 to 2024
Jeep JT Gladiator — 2020 to 2024
Owners can check the official list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) published with the Australian recall notice.

Your VIN is a unique 17-character identifier and can generally be found at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side, on the driver's door frame label, or on your vehicle registration documents.

Owners can also check their vehicle through the official Jeep Australia recall checker.
What should affected owners do?
If your Wrangler or Gladiator appears on the affected VIN list, current advice is to park the vehicle away from structures and other vehicles while waiting for the recall remedy to become available.
Stellantis Australia says affected owners will be contacted once the recall campaign is ready to proceed. Owners will then be able to arrange for the recall work to be completed through an authorised Jeep dealer.

The Dirt Tech take
For Wrangler and Gladiator owners, particularly those with modified touring or camping vehicles, this is a recall worth taking seriously.
Many of these vehicles are parked in garages, under carports, beside caravans or close to other vehicles. With the potential fault involving overheating around an electrical connection, following the temporary parking advice is a sensible precaution until Jeep releases the Australian repair campaign.
If you own a 2020–2024 JL Wrangler or JT Gladiator, check your VIN against the official list rather than waiting for a recall letter to arrive.
